Chris Brown maintained his innocence in his ongoing suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon case, telling ABC News that he was set up in the incident. Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos previously spoke to the press about alleged discrepancies in what Brown’s accuser told police.

“I cannot wait till the truth comes to light about this incident and this situation,” Brown said in the video. “I’m glad that all my real supporters know me, and know the truth and see the truth.” The singer added that, because of the accusations against him, “my character’s been defaced.”

On August 30th, Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon charges following an hours-long standoff with police; Geragos maintained it wasn’t a standoff and that Brown was waiting for authorities to obtain a search warrant. Earlier that morning, a woman called police from outside Brown’s home claiming that the singer pointed a gun at her head.

Brown’s accuser, a woman named Baylee Curran, claimed in interviews that an associate of Brown’s brought out a sampling of jewelry, including a diamond cross necklace that Curran admired. The associate then began “cussing, yelling, calling me names, saying, ‘Get away from the diamonds,'” Curran said.

“Chris came in, pulled out his gun and said, ‘I’m getting so sick of you people,’ pointed the gun at me, said to ‘get the f out of the house,'” Curran told Extra soon after the incident. “Something to that sort of ‘I’m gonna pop a cap.'”

However, Geragos said, and Brown reiterated, that Curran “fabricated” the whole story, with the lawyer noting that a search of Brown’s residence produced no diamond cross necklace or weapons.

Brown is currently scheduled for arraigned on his charges on September 20th.
