Drilling Hole In iPhone 7 Won’t Reveal “Secret” Headphone Jack

jackDo not drill a hole in your iPhone 7 because the internet told you to.

Some dimwits actually did, and their phones are now expensive paperweights.

Apple’s newest phone infamously did away with the headphone jack, meaning users had to use an adapter or buy a set of wireless earbuds that cost about $150 and aren’t even available yet.

Critics and customers complained loudly about the drastic change.

Unfortunately, many of the more gullible fell for a fraudulent YouTube video posted by a guy called “TechRax” who said all you had to do was drill a hole in your iPhone to create a headphone jack. He demonstrated by putting his iPhone 7 in a vice and drilling a hole in it with a 3.5 millimeter drill bit.

The video got more than 10 million views in a week.

The video gave the impression that you’d be able to insert your old headphone jack straight into the freshly drilled hole you’d be able to listen to music.

That’s not true.

Drilling a hole in your iPhone will destroy it, as many of the people commenting in the section under the video found out. Drilling holes in Apple products also voids the warranty, and no, Apple Care won’t cover damage resulting from drilling holes in things.

TechRax is a prankster who has produced similar videos making fun of technology and featuring him destroying iPhones. But nowhere in the video in question does he say that it’s all a joke.
